About the A.P.P.E.A.L Study 

The Appeal Study - Analysis of Preferences & Perceptions of Employment Across Lancaster. This research is the first step toward developing better, more effective strategies to help small businesses attract and retain talent and ultimately improve both business outcomes and quality of life.  This is your chance to participate in a confidential, 45-minute interview at a time that works for you. Your input will directly contribute to building better hiring and retention strategies for businesses like ours.

FAQ 

Am I eligible to participate in the research study?

To participate, you must:
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Are employed by a business that employs less than 10 people in Lancaster, County, PA
• Are willing to meet for a 45 minute face-to-face virtual interview.

What can I gain from Participating in the Study?

Your input will contribute to research aimed at improving how small businesses attract and retain employees, which may lead to better workplace environments in the future. A $50 gift card will be provided for at the completion of the interview process.

What would my participation look like?

Participation includes:

  • Completing a brief online screening and consent form

  • Scheduling a 45 minute face-to-face virtual interview

  • Answering nine open-ended questions about your work experience

All responses are anonymous and confidential. You will have the opportunity to review your responses, and participation is voluntary—you may withdraw at any time.
